How did we pick Turcianske Teplice
Turcianske Teplice was not a name I was familiar with. Aside from the fact that I could correctly repeat it I couldn’t add much! 🙂
But then you have the wonderful world of discount websites and everything sounds familiar! 🙂 If you do not have money to spend then do not browse such sites! You will end up buying something! Preferably something that you actually need. 🙂
I on the other hand love discounts! And I love traveling! So one sunny day when I felt I needed a break and a change of scenery was long overdue I opened: Zamenej.sk And I looked for a short travel package. And usually you have quite a few options. Based on the details mentioned I picked Turcianske Teplice.

I am of the opinion that there is no better time to explore a country then when you actually live there. So after some internet search I found that location of Turcianske Teplice is quite nice. And that the place is famous for its spas and aqua park. Which is never bad in my book! 🙂
When I pick a package especially in small towns I tend to pick places that offer breakfast too. I only start functioning after a cup of cafe 😉 And I do not want to lose the whole morning searching for it. In bigger cities I know that there are more chances of finding quickly a cafe shop. So in those cases I am more flexible.
Many places in Slovakia offer breakfast and I think even more popular is the half board option. Where you can pick to have either lunch or dinner along with breakfast and accommodation. In small villages I will definitely opt for this as you never know where you will find the next restaurant. It also depends on your plans for the vacation.
Our hotel offered also spa and discounted prices for massages. Which is always a great bonus!
Our long weekend in Turcianske Teplice
You can plan your break according to your needs and number of days. We chose just for a long weekend. Which by the way we confirmed on the phone before we decided to go there. Since they sell a certain number of packages they need to distribute them over a certain period of time.
We went to aqua park which is big and the prices are affordable. They have different swimming pools with different temperatures. Both indoor and outdoors. Of course we verified the toboggans. 🙂 We didn’t buy any massages because we had them at the hotel. But the option is there and they have different kinds. Most of them you need to reserve so it is better if you know what you want and just go ahead and book them. Or you might be lucky!
When we were not at the aqua park we had some long walks in the park where you can see some interesting metal statues. We did visit the town but is fairly small so it didn’t take us long. They have also a museum but unfortunately it was closed when we wanted to see it.
With respect to food there are a few options. And out of them quite a few are asian!!! 🙂 But we did go to one that offered more local food : Koliba Zuzana
Last impressions regarding our mini vacation
If you want to understand and have a better feeling of Slovakia then you should visit more than just Bratislava. Turcianske Teplice might be the good start. The price for the vacation is almost unbeatable. The food and accommodation is much cheaper than in Bratislava.
We got there by car but we understood that you can take a train too. And most likely also a bus.
The air is fresher and you come back to work more relaxed and in a better mood! 🙂
