Road trip with baby, stop in Biloxi

Road trip with baby

After Mobile we planned to continue our road trip with baby in New Orleans. Before we got there we were being chases by a tornado. In Europe we don’t have anything similar to that, maybe just strong storms.

It was a bit scary! We kept on listening to the radio for “tornado alerts”. And also we kept on watching the sky. The darker it become the faster we wanted to move.

Short stop in Biloxi

We were on the road towards New Orleans when we decided to make a detour to Biloxi -Mississippi. We were so close that we couldn’t pass the opportunity. And Biloxi is such a nice place to have a vacation. The beaches look awesome! And in spite of the fact that in the past the town was affected by hurricane it looks totally renovated now. That from what we saw, but of course maybe there are still area in need of work.

Welcome center Biloxi

In my mind I will always remember the Welcome center where the personnel was extremely kind. They provided a lot of information, advises and tips.

F was a huge hit among the ladies. He smiled and charmed them all! 🙂 I know I am his mom but I really think he is a handsome boy! 🙂

In addition they have a museum on the premises that is free of charge. Not big and nothing spectacular but it shows the roots of the first people in Biloxi. Is suitable for all ages.

In one corner is displayed an art collection which is very interesting and worth seeing.

Biloxi in two hours

Another thing that I remarked in Biloxi was the numbers of casinos! There are so many! Glamorous places that offer all kind of deals. In order to get you inside the establishment. And spend your cash! 😉

I’ve seen Atlantic City and is not at the same scale. Plus the city seems less touristic. Not so many souvenir shops either. From my point of view seems more inclined to families. And the pace is not that alert.

Biloxi seafood or road trip with baby stop to eat

While in Biloxi we ate a good fish meal. The area has plenty of restaurants that offer seafood. And since we are fans of seafood we couldn’t pass the opportunity.

We stopped at Snapper’s Seafood. It is a very nice place. Has plenty of seating places. F was fascinated in particular by the fish tank. They have high chairs for infants which is helpful if your little one is fine with using one. F was not very happy with that. We had to take turns in eating. Fortunatelly since then he had a change of heart. 😉

I remember that I wished they served the food fast. We kept an eye on the sky all the time. The staff seemed calmed but I guess they were used with moody weather.

It started to rain and on radio was an announcement that the tornado might approach that area. There were some news about some damage in Alabama. Nothing very serious. But we decided that it was time to leave.

It was quite impressive how quickly the sky was changing color. The amount of time we had to wait for a loooong train to pass will FOREVER remain in mind.Every second felt like an eternity.

A torrnado is approaching Mississippi

Our road trip with the baby turned literally brighter when at an intersection we had to take the road towards the clear sky. It happened to be toward New Orleans! 🙂
