Ready for packing? Me, not so much! 🙂
Packing stresses me out! 🙂 It’s a fact! I am not worried about myself, or maybe indirectly yes, but mostly about my little F. Because I want to make sure that I have everything he might need. At the end of the day if he is happy we are happy. 🙂
For our trip to USA we left with two big luggage and another hand luggage that we carried with us on board of the plane. I also prepared a baby bag. Plus the stroller. The trip lasted 18 days. The weather conditions here in Bratislava were around 5 degrees as opposed to the South of the USA with temperatures oscillating from 15 to 27. So things looked very bright! 🙂
We decided not to take winter coats. They were too heavy and bulky and we didn’t really need them. Therefore we took some spring coats and some sweaters instead. That save some space!
Packing for F (10 months) included:
- 10 bodysuits
- 5 pair of bottoms for spring and two more warm
- 10 blouses, (7 light and 3 a bit warmer)
- 5 t-shirts
- 2 pairs of shoes
- 2 hats (one light and one warm)
- 7 pairs of socks
- light spring coat
- 2 pajamas
- blanket
- baby towel (just in case)
- 2 plastic bottles
- around 15 pampers to keep me for a few days and then we bought from there
- wipes,
- some formula milk (the small version)
- some baby food (biscuits, and fruit/vegetable plastic jars because they are light)
- spoons and plate (something with a lid too)
- some basic medicine that doctor recommended to take with us
- toys (light ones and that I knew could keep his attention for some time)
- disposable pad
Because of the long trip I paid extra attention to the hand luggage. I included some essentials to hold us for a couple of days for the three of us. In case something happens with our big luggage. For example clean underwear and t-shirts.
The baby bag content:
In addition I made sure that I have the below esensials in the baby bag:
- diapers and wipes just to hold me for a few days
- toys
- food and a bottle for water
- disposable pad
- a set of clean clothes
- disinfection wipes
Regarding the baby food I had it all in a big zipper bag so when asked by the border control I could take it out at once.
In USA we counted on laundromats with coins. They are everywhere and you can wash and dry your clothes very cheap.
As a result of the planning I was better prepared to embark on this adventure with a baby. It seems that our packing was good since we didn’t face any crisis! Due to the lack of something! And of course we were in the weight limit! Which can save a few bucks!
