Castle lover or not
Castle lover or not if you are in Slovakia you should see some castles! There are many nice castles in Slovakia. Some are just ruins but other are in an amazing great shape.
You do not need to be a history lover to appreciate the architecture or the design. Without mentioning that it can be a nice break from the routine.
Many have seen Bratislava castle. But is more to Slovakia than just one castle! And some are not even far away from Bratislava.
Cerveny Kamen Castle
The first castle we saw after moving to Slovakia was Cerveny Kamen. I mean first after Bratislava castle! You can not miss the one in Bratislava even if you want to! 🙂
Cerveny Kamen is very close to Bratislava . By car it takes you under one hour. And the trip is worth it in my opinion!
You should plan on spending a few hours. Between the tours and the outside gardens there is plenty to see. Is nothing spectacular but there are a few very nice pieces.
I admired in particular the summer room designed to keep the temperature nice and cool in summer. And the the painting is very nice too.
Another place that I found very impressive was the cellar. The size and the condition is great!
And in case you get a bit hungry there is a small terrace/buffet that can take care of that. Nothing fancy but enough to keep you going. And if you are so inclined: a glass of wine
What you should know about the castle
Firstly it might interest you that the tickets are really affordable.
Then that there are different kind of tours (timewise) and you can chose whatever suits you best.
And one tiny important detail for parents in particular is that they have some kind of treasure hunting for kids. Woo-hoo:)
Also that they have a children tours which should eliminate some of the stress! ? Double woo-hoo!
And if your Slovak abilities are still rudimentary you can choose English tours! 🙂
So if you do not know what to do with yourself one weekend than you might give Cerveny Kamen castle a chance! 🙂
