Baby friendly places in Bratislava
When you became a parent “baby friendly places” becomes very important. You are always looking for spots where the whole family is happy.
Or at least the baby half! 🙂 You can not be happy if he is not happy. The word happiness means something else when you are a parent. And is only mildly similar to the “couple without kids happiness”.
Baby friendly restaurant
It becomes harder to find a restaurant that all the members of the families like. Initially is just the differences in taste. Or the appreciation of the service and the quality of food.
When you have a baby you need to have in mind so many other things. Like how far away it is. If accessible by public transport or by car. Combined with the outside temperature. Then if they have ramp for stroller or elevator. If you do manage to get there you need to think of changing table. The cleanliness of the place. The noise level!
Fortunately in Bratislava you did not have to worry about the smoking part.
If the baby is sitting already you need to check if the place offers high chair. And one of THE MOST IMPORTANT things is a BABY CORNER. Or kids corner! Or just some form of entertainment for kids! 🙂
And if they have good food too then is great!
AlTrivio restaurant
AlTrivio is a baby friendly restaurant. Primary we like it because of location and the kids corner. The restaurant is located in Central shopping center. So you can combine shopping with eating out if you have the energy. Or disposition! 🙂
But the best part and the reason why many families go there are the family tables! There are a few tables set-up for families with kids. Which means high table and small tables with appropriate chairs.The small tables have some items for drawing.
In the family area there is a kids corner too. Where small babies can crawl and the older ones can play with toys.
The food is good although I had better. And the prices are not budget friendly. But the corner is great! In addition the family room of the mall is very close. That means that you can change the diaper fast and return to your meal. Because of that we chose to eat many times at this restaurant.
Central shopping center
But if you are lucky enough and your baby is asleep you have other options. The food court in Central Shopping center is just a few meters away. And what I found quite nice is that the roof is utilized. So you can have the meal on the roof, in open air. Of course if the weather allows.
The roof park is baby friendly too. It has benches and grass and a small playground for older kids. And in some days even some entertainment. I saw many moms with kids in strollers enjoying a drink with a friend. Or even babies cowling on the blankets.
A baby friendly place in Central is also the TimeOut. They have a few places in Slovakia and Czech Republic following the same model. And is for kids from 3 years up.
Playground in Bratislava
In the category of baby friendly places we have of course the playgrounds. In Bratislava I have found a few small playgrounds. They usually include a handful of things. But if the baby is not running yet they are perfect . Why I say that? Because many are not fenced. And they are in the proximity to the road. Which means that the parents need to be extra vigilant.
Ihrisko Osadná is one playground that I found particularly nice. Is accessible by tram too is located in Nove Mesto. A friend of ours recommended and it is a good choice.
This one is quite big and the good part is that is all fenced. Sometimes kids who attend kindergarten are brought there too. I would say that is not designed for babies. But if they just started to walk and run this is a cool place. Another reason why I like it a lot is because is not crowded. At least when I went it was not.

Baby friendly cafe shop
Being a mom means developing an appreciation for cafe places. 🙂 You can have a tea instead! Is not about the cafe is all about social life! 🙂 It gives you the opportunity to meet other moms. In all fairness dads like them too!
Fortunately in Bratislava there are many cafe shops. Some are very good. And some are baby friendly! Yu-hu! 🙂
One place that is very nice and popular in Bratislava is Medicka Zahrada! Aside from the very big and nice park . And the cute playground! On the premises of the garden you can find a cute cafe shop! A baby friendly cafe shop! They do not have a huge range of cakes or drinks. But chances are you will find at least two type of cakes and a few good assortment of tea and cafes.
The chairs are comfortable and they have a lot of toys! Granted the toys don’t seem to be in the best shape. But they do their job! The kids can crawl around or use the high chairs. In many instances you can see the babies sleeping peacefully in their strollers, on the deck.
If you manage to synchronize the baby sleep with the meeting you are one lucky parent! But even if you don’t you can still have a nice chat and a snack!. 🙂
Transition to parenthood can be at times quite challenging . Knowing some baby friendly places can make the life so much easier!
